About Us
Locally Rooted. Compassionately Driven.
The Mampana Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit organisation working in the rural village of Spitspunt, Limpopo. Born from the belief that no child should go hungry, go without early learning, or feel forgotten, we focus on practical, community-based solutions that meet people where they are — with what they need most.
We don’t offer handouts. We walk alongside families, early childhood centres, and caregivers — building lasting, respectful relationships and delivering tangible support with dignity. From feeding schemes and crèche support to basic care items and emotional encouragement, we exist to uplift the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community.
Where It All Started
The Foundation was born out of local concern — not from the outside looking in, but from within the community itself. Spitspunt faces deep challenges: food insecurity, under-resourced early education, lack of access to health and sanitation, and high unemployment. But at the centre of it all are families that continue to hope, children that continue to dream, and a village that refuses to give up.
We began as a simple act of care — one meal, one visit, one child at a time. Over time, those small efforts grew into a collective movement grounded in service, empathy, and action.
What We Do
We serve with a focus on three core pillars:
Nutrition First
We provide daily meals and food parcels to children and families facing food insecurity, ensuring no child is too hungry to learn or grow.
Learning Support
We supply crèches and young learners with school bags, books, and basic educational tools — giving children a fair start, right from the beginning.
Community-Driven
Our work is built from the ground up — led by local voices, informed by real needs, and powered by those who live where the help is needed most.
Dignity Through Action
We give with care, not pity — restoring dignity through consistent, compassionate support that respects every child’s worth.
Why It Matters
Children living in rural poverty are often overlooked by large-scale programmes. Their futures are shaped by circumstances they did not choose — hunger, underfunded education, and isolation.
The Mampana Foundation exists to change that trajectory, one child, one family, and one community at a time.
We believe that restoring dignity, meeting basic needs, and supporting early development are the most powerful investments we can make — not only for individuals, but for the future of South Africa as a whole.
